7 Ways to Join #COVID5050

Dear community,

On Friday, Women in Global Health launched COVID 50/50, our campaign for a stronger and more equitable COVID response, with Five Asks for Global Health Security. Within days, our champions and ideas appearing in headlines across outlets like CNN International and Devex — and our staff are working around the clock to support advocacy efforts and our community in the fight for a gender-sensitive pandemic response.

As the campaign gains momentum, we want to keep our community updated about how to be a part of COVID 50/50.

Here are seven ways to join the effort towards a stronger pandemic response:

1. Spread the word. Last week, we published our Five Asks for Gender-Responsive Health Security, along with a letter from Executive Director Roopa Dhatt. These policy positions also appeared in Devex. Sharing these policy points with your network will help generate broader understanding of what 80 percent of the global health workforce stands to lose by not adopting gender-sensitive approaches to data collection, safe work environments and more.

2. Share on social using #COVID5050. Sharing the Five Asks, media headlines and your insights on social media using #COVID5050 will help bring visibility to these efforts. You can also follow and retweet or share Women in Global Health’s content on Twitter and Facebook. You can find social media graphics here.

3. Join our Facebook community. Last week, we launched our #COVID5050 Facebook group. Join here to stay up to date on COVID 50/50 activities, share resources and connect with your fellow Women in Global Health. When you join, be sure to introduce yourself! In case you prefer WhatsApp, please contact us at info@womeningh.org.

4. Partner with us. We are looking for partners to join the #COVID5050 campaign and take forward our ‘5 ASKS’ at the global, regional and national level.

5. Subscribe to our newsletter — and tell your friends. Stay up to date on COVID 50/50 and progress on the fight for gender-equal leadership by subscribing to our newsletter. If you’re already subscribed, please share this link with your network.

6. Participate in Crowdsourcing information on gender. WGH is gathering information on gender componsition of decision-making & scientific advisory teams at global and natinal levels in response to COVID-10. How? Fill out the form or email us the source at info@womeningh.org.

7. Donate your time. We’re looking for global health communicators, advocates and researchers to donate their time to our campaign. Here are our open opportunities. Even if you don’t see an opportunity that speaks to your skillset, please get in touch with your availability and what you can offer.

We look forward to welcoming you and your perspective into our community. Have questions? Send them to Katie.Gorham@Womeningh.org.

We’re committed to building a more inclusive COVID19 response. Join us by volunteering your time, following us on Facebook and Twitter, and sharing our Five Asks for Global Health Security with your networks. Women in Global Health is!
