The Mount Rainier Pool will be cancelling all group and private swim lessons*, water exercise classes* and Open Swims effective Thursday, March 12th. Updates will be communicated as conditions change. We will still be open for water walking, lap swimming and family swims. Open swims including No School Swims and Saturday Open Swims are cancelled. We will continue to have Family Swims, but may limit participation due to safety. Also, we will still allow swim teams to practice at this time. All classes and class passes will be placed on hold along with future class schedules. (See credit and extension section below.) *Note- "For organizations that serve high-risk populations, cancel gatherings of more than 10 people." -CDC Implementation of Mitigation Strategies for Communities with Local COVID 19 Transmission See message below for how we are monitoring and adhering to guidelines. ----------------------- The health and safety of our patrons and staff is paramount, and we are closely monitoring the spread of novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. We are adhering to guidance from Public Health Seattle & King County (Public Health), the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). We are closely monitoring updates, as guidance is changing frequently due to local and global developments. Older adults and individuals with underlying medical conditions that are at increased risk of serious COVID-19 are encouraged not to attend (including employees). Staff is continually sanitizing public areas and have been instructed to not come into work if ill. Sanitizing all public areas including floors, fixtures and frequently touched surfaces including front desk area, water fountains, doors and knobs. On March 11, Governor Jay Inslee ordered the prohibition of gatherings of more than 250 people in King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties. Mount Rainier Pool will not schedule or accept any large events until this order is reversed. If any closures or schedule changes are required, we will notify families and staff through our email notification system. Messages would also be posted on our website, Facebook and Twitter. CREDITS, REFUNDS & EXTENSIONSSafety is paramount to all that we do! We understand that many of you may have a loved one that is in a high risk category. Please see below. Swim Lessons: We are placing swim lessons on hold for now. We have placed all future schedules on hold and will make a decision on the future of classes when we have more information. Water Exercise: All water exercise classes will be placed on hold. For users with passes, we will extend your passes once we restart classes. Lap/Open Swim Pass Holders: At this time, we plan to continue to offer these services. If you are at risk, please notify us that you would like to place your pass on hold. RENTALSWe will have cancelled all birthday parties for March and will not be making any bookings for April at this time. We will develop a waiting list of people for future rentals and book them once direction changes from the public health departments.
