AnnouncementsSafety Alert on use of Oxygen BottlesPrevious training on safe operations of oxygen bottles has included the process of ‘cracking’ a cylinder prior to fitting the regulator. Due to a recent incident, WorkSafe WA has issued a safety alert to stop the practice of ‘cracking’. Grants & Fundraising Mental Health First Aid CourseOne in five Australians will experience a mental illness in their lifetime. The Australian Lifesaving Academy NSW is now delivering the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) – Standard 2 Day Course as authored by Mental Health First Aid Australia, delivered by instructors who are currently accredited by MHFA Australia. The course will equip participants with the skills necessary to help someone they may be concerned about. For more information please contact the Australian Lifesaving Academy NSW on 1300 766 257. Grant funding is an ideal way to obtain equipment, infrastructure or program funding for your club. In support of SLSCs in NSW, SLSNSW provides a professional grant service at no fee to NSW SLSCs through Surf Life Saving Foundation’s Grant Seeking Unit (GSU). The GSU is a national grant research and writing support unit for SLS entities across Australia.
