Cello for Africa

Cello for Africa, directed by Sinfonia for Hope, brings together musicians from Africa and New Zealand in a concert to raise funds for the Tamariki Education Centre, a primary school in the slums of Nairobi, founded by New Zealander, Denise Carnihan.

Featuring top NZ cellists, Sam Manzanza from the Congo, musicians from NZSO, Orchestra Wellington, the Universities of Otago and Victoria, youth groups Lyrica Choir (Kelburn School), Virtuoso Strings and Stringendo, this will be an extraordinary event.

Concerto for an African Cellist by Hans Huyssen, will feature cellist Heleen du Plessis (both from South Africa) with Sinfonia for Hope and will be conducted by the composer.

KĀPITI CHAMBER ELECTS NEW CHAIR

Kāpiti, Friday 25 October 2019 - The Kāpiti Coast Chamber of Commerce has elected a new Chair and Board at its 2019 Annual General Meeting, held on the 23 October at Kāpiti Coast Airport.  

Jacinda Thorn is the new Board Chair,  and is joined by Sam Pritchard, Deputy Chair, Henry Kruger, Treasurer and Heather Hutchings is stepping into Secretary position.  

Jacinda Thorn, the owner of Thorn PR, says she’s excited to evolve the Chamber after 12 months of rapid growth. 

“Our new Partnerships Programme, introduced just one year ago has exceeded our expectations. We aimed to have ten partners at the end of the year but are entering 2020 with 12.  Their support has enabled the Chamber to grow and offer more to our members.
