Principal's Message

Is there ever a quiet week?

CLONTARF Foundation North Coast Employment Forum

The Clontarf Foundation exists at our campus to improve the education, discipline, life skills, self esteem and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men. Our program develops supportive relationships and our staff are hardworking, passionate and completely dedicated to helping these young men achieve their full potential. One such activity that was provided to our boys was the North Coast Employment Forum. The forum sought to provide our senior students with some specific skills and information relevant to the workplace.

I am pictured here with one of our Year 12 students, Mason Holton at the event. The employers and service providers discussed with groups of four to six young men, the following:

  • The nature of their business
  • The types of entry level job opportunities available in their industry
  • Prospects of these roles in 2019 and beyond
  • Key attributes they are looking for in new employees
  • How the students can access further information

The range of local providers included:  Bunnings, Greater Bank, Essential Energy, Caltex, Kmart, Qantas, Officeworks, Target, IPROWD, Australian Defence Force, Yancoal, Programmed, TAFE NSW, CSU, Apprenticeships Australia, Club Taree, Kempsey Shire Council, Akubra, Woolworths and Port Macquarie Hastings Council.
