Dear ‘Consumers interests are ultimately better served by a competitive market than by a regulated monopoly’ is the argument put forward in the latest issue of InterMedia. In Fibre: Taking the Right Steps the three authors make the case that the infrastructure and services we have today are the result of investment by then new entrants to the market. The question now is whether regulators are at risk of jeopardising critical infrastructure investment by applying the same economic principles to a radically changed market. Infrastructure investment and the policy and regulatory building blocks for a future digital economy will be the key discussion themes in our upcoming TMF Miami meeting where we’ve already confirmed a diverse panel of speakers. Finally, I should draw your attention to this month’s Regulatory Watch, where we have an excellent round up of news and commentary on the wider reaching impact of the
GDPR in light of recent data “scandals”. We hope to see you at a meeting soon.
