Click here News in a TICFebruary 2020 Dear ,![]() With another year of consolidation and further strengthening of the College's position and with significant advances in our strategic planning effort, the College is in one of the strongest positions in its history. There have been a number of changes of significant strategic importance at the College. I am very pleased with us being able to be more forward-thinking rather than just managing things from day to day - a nice place to be! One of those strategic focusses is on our relationships with our Alumni, so we have created the role of Alumni Relations Coordinator. When I thought about the ideal person for this role and how we could focus our efforts towards supporting, connecting and adding value for our 700+ Alumni and friends of the College, I thought of Vikki Kelly. Vikki has been a friend and supporter of the College in a variety of ways for over two decades. Her creative vision, unquestioned loyalty and passion for our college community including students and graduates suits this role perfectly, and I am very excited that Vikki accepted the role. Another exciting change for this new year of 2020, is three new appointments made to replace the work of one ‘superwoman’. Katie Pritchard did an amazing job of revamping, systematising, ‘chirocentricising’ and influencing in the areas of the Chiropractic Centre and associated chiropractic courses. Katie has moved back into fulltime practice which has given the opportunity for three of our people to move up into new roles after having been involved at the College for some time now. Trevor Harbrow, Lisa Jian and Tanja Glucina have accepted these positions under the expert leadership of Marina Fox whose position remains the same but has taken on extra responsibility. Please read about the new roles later in this newsletter. With so much chatter around the world about the future of chiropractic either as a unique profession or some therapeutic musculoskeletal adjunct, and all of the negative rhetoric that goes with those arguments, I’d like to draw your attention to a statement that was written by a group from Quebec, Canada. In my opinion, it is one of the most logical approaches to the issue and has now been set up as a digitally signed petition. I would like to encourage you to have a read and if you agree with me, add your name to the list of people who endorse this approach at: https://dialoguechiropratique.org/chiropractic-proclamation-declaration-and-petition-2/?lang=en We look forward to more close relations with the Australian Chiropractic College in Adelaide, who have begun to teach their first cohort - congratulations to them and good luck for their first ‘Lyceum-like’ event in March - Concordia. The year has taken off very quickly, a new set of 76 fresh faces around the College and some more exciting times ahead. We have a reaccreditation visit later in the year, curriculum review underway and just more of trying to be ‘more excellenter’. Go well. Phil McMaster New roles![]() Trevor Harbrow 'Trev' oversees the day to day running of the Chiropractic Centre to ensure consistency and congruency and manages the public and student experience in the Centre. ![]() Lisa Jian Lisa is responsible for the educational content of the chiropractic practice courses and supports students in marketing and community events to support them in meeting their visit requirements. ![]() Tanja Glucina Tanja wears many hats around the College, and one of her new responsibilities is Course Coordinator for courses in professional practice and those that support chiropractic practice. Alumni and Friends![]() I am excited by my new appointment as Alumni Relations Coordinator. My primary aim is to build on and expand our existing alumni campaigns and services, and design new initiatives that add value for Alumni, that are relevant and wildly useful in your practice and your lives. Ultimately helping our tribe express their potential as the worlds best chiropractors. We have already planned a couple of dates to get together with our Alumni and friends.
The Alumni Roadshow with Phil McMaster and John Bassano will also continue later this year, so watch out for events in your region. In the meantime, please check the alumni homepage on our website, follow us on Facebook and Instagram, and be sure to update your contact details to make sure you are receiving special alumni communications and invitations to these events. I am looking forward to connecting with you all over the coming months and working together towards an amazing 2020, for Alumni, friends and the greater chiropractic profession! Vikki Kelly Epic Support for ResearchWe want to send out a huge thank you to Dr David and Nicole Jackson, from Epic Practice, who recently donated $100,000 USD to the College to support our research programme. This is the single biggest research donation we have ever received and will be used to help grow our ‘chiropractic for kids’ stream of research. ![]() What’s more, this incredible donation is just the start of something really big! The team at Epic Practice have launched a programme that will see their members supporting our 'chiropractic for kids' research programme on an ongoing basis. At the launch of the programme, at Epic Impact 2019, the Epic members present pledged over $1,000,000 to go directly to our kids research programme. The first project that we will get up and running will be a group effort between our Centre for Chiropractic Research and the team at Chiropractic Leadership Alliance. We will be using a deep learning, artificial intelligence approach to analyse data that we collect from hundreds of chiropractic practices across North America using CLA’s INSiGHT™ Insight scanning technology. The goal of this first project is to better understand how chiropractic care impacts the lives of kids who are under care. We’re excited about what we can achieve with the help of everyone at Epic Practice and CLA. We think this will be a game changer! Keep an eye out in future editions of 'News in a Tic' as we thank more of the incredible people and organisations who continue to support our research programme and have helped us become leaders in research that explores the principles of chiropractic.
