Coronavirus Updates and Resources for SLSNSW Members

A number of updates have been published on the SLSNSW Coronavirus webpage relating to;

  • Patrol Operations and Callout Response Readiness

Nipper Wins Award for Life Saving Rescues on Remote Beach

Fourteen-year-old Nipper, Clayton Schilg has been awarded Rescue of the Month for January 2020. Clayton saved the lives of four people at an unpatrolled beach on the Far North Coast.

Mental Health First Aid Course

One in five Australians will experience a mental illness in their lifetime. The Australian Lifesaving Academy NSW is now delivering the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) – Standard 2 Day Course as authored by Mental Health First Aid Australia, delivered by instructors who are currently accredited by MHFA Australia. The course will equip participants with the skills necessary to help someone they may be concerned about. For more information please contact the Australian Lifesaving Academy NSW on 1300 766 257.

Grant funding is an ideal way to obtain equipment, infrastructure or program funding for your club. In support of SLSCs in NSW, SLSNSW provides a professional grant service at no fee to NSW SLSCs through Surf Life Saving Foundation’s Grant Seeking Unit (GSU). The GSU is a national grant research and writing support unit for SLS entities across Australia.

Surf Life Saving Foundation

The SLSF carry out weekly raffle ticket sales at shopping centres and a monthly giving program (face-to-face door knocking) called Guardians Of The Surf. A full list of the current face-to-face door knocking locations can be downloaded from our website.
