NNYLN Forms Task Group to Review ICEPAC/ICICILL

NNYLN has formed a task group comprised of members of the Automation Committee to review the current ICEPAC/ICICILL system, and see if improvements or a change of vendors is needed.

Members of this group include Marcia Bulger of the North Country Library System, Peter Morris of Clarkson University, Kelly Wilson of St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES, Betsy Brooks and Kim Fletcher of the Clinton Essex Franklin Library System, and NNYLN staff.

Bonnie St. Clair Retiring from CVPH

Bonnie St. Clair, a library assistant at UVM Health Network - Champlain Valley Physician Hospital is retiring after a long and successful career at the hospital.

She will be retiring on January 2nd, and has been an excellent asset to the hospital library and the Circuit Rider program.

Tech Topic Webinar: Saving to the Cloud

Wouldn't it be wonderful to get to your files no matter where you were? You now can! You can save files "to the cloud" and, as long as you have Internet access, you should be able to access them. Cloud storage is one of the newer technologies that could make your life a whole lot easier.

NNYLN Professional Development Grants Awarded

Congratulations to Chris Hebblethwaite and Marilyn Ochoa of SUNY Oswego on their successful applications for NNYLN Professional Development Grants.

They will be attending the ACRL Annual Conference in Portland, Oregon. This conference will be held from March 25-28, 2015.

NNYLN Offering New York State Historic Newspaper Classes

The Northern New York Library Network is conducting seminars on how to search and utilize the New York State Historic Newspapers website. These seminars will be held at the NNYLN Meeting Room on January 14th and 28th at 1pm, and will last until 2:30pm.

The instructor for the seminar will be Eric Alan, the Regional Services Librarian at NNYLN. Mr. Alan will explain the history behind the website, search strategies, and specific genealogical and personal name search methods.

This is a free class and open to the public, but registration is required. You can register for this class by signing up on our website.

NCLS Road Trip - Directors to Visit Every Library in One Year

Two library directors, Noreeen Patterson of Phoenix Public Library, and Betty Maute of Fulton Public Library, had the idea to visit all 65 libraries in the North Country Library Network.

They hope to gain a better understanding of each library, and by writing about their travels, help bring the NCLS closer together.

You can follow along on their journey via the blog, The Frozen Librarian, or on North Country Library System's website. They will be writing about their experiences, providing useful facts and information about each of the libraries they visit, and will also be posting pictures for all to view.

Elizabeth Rogers Retires From CEFLS

Elizabeth Rogers, a librarian at Clinton Essex Franklin Library System, has retired from CEFLS after a long and successful career.

Elizabeth served on many NNYLN committees and was very involved in efforts to improve the quality of the services provided to our member libraries.

The staff of NNYLN wishes Elizabeth a long and joyous retirement.

Digitization Service Center Hands-On Training Available

The NNYLN Digitization Service Center (DSC) is now open. The purpose of the DSC is to help libraries, archives, historical societies, museums, schools, and other educational and cultural organizations to develop online access to their collections and research resources. It is intended that material digitized in the NNYLN DSC will be placed on the Internet for public research.

The DSC contains a wide array of digitization technology, along with professional training and assistance. This assistance is provided free of charge.
