Curriculum Vision 2020 and Beyond

The school is developing a vision for our curriculum to take us into the next decade. Parents are invited to give us feedback on topics the staff have put forward for our Programme of Inquiry.

The Programme of Inquiry will be a two year cycle building on what the students have previously covered. As an example, within Cultural Identity in the transdiciplinary theme of Who We Are, in Year 1/2 the students would cover concepts linked to their family structure, in Year 3/4 they would cover concepts linked to the community, in Year 5/6 they would cover concepts linked to immigration and in Year 7/8 they would cover concepts linked to indigeniety.

The survey link is here and will be open until the end of term. We hope you take the time to complete this.

Sharing our Learning Afternoon

It was wonderful to see so many parents come along for today's Sharing our Learning afternoon. Tasting the selection of foods used in cultural celebrations that Taylor students put together were delicious and a great learning experience for the students. The Brick Bay inspired sculptures Rutherford put together in our Native Bush Zone showed their creativity. Some of them we will look to build so that they become permanent sculptures in our school.

This afternoon's showcase of performances by Blake, Hillary and Te Kanawa were well received. From the New Entrants with their Pungawerewere dance, Hillary with their depiction of Rata and the Waka, to the Te Kanawa students with their performances celebrating cultures around the world they developed from scratch, the students all put in a great effort.

Reporting to Parents

Thank you to the parents who came along to the Student Achievement Meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday night. If you missed the opportunity to meet with your child's teachers but would still like to meet with them, please make contact with the teachers to arrange another time.

Police Information

NZ Police recently launched a new non emergency number, 105. We’ve done this to make it easier to get hold of us in the event of non-urgent situations or ‘Things which have Already Happened’, which don’t require Police assistance immediately.

You can call us on 105 for all non emergencies, or you can go online at 105.police.govt.nz to report things like:

- Lost property

- Theft for a public place or car

- Intentional property damage

- Or to get an update or add info to a previous report

In the event of an emergency, always call 111 - Things that are Happening Now
