Bennett Springs Fair

An impending cyclone, destructive winds, 100% chance of rain, BOM and DFES warnings did not deter over 1500 people attending the 2015 Bennett Springs Fair. We prayed. God answered. He is good! We enjoyed fine weather for much of the day and even when it began to drizzle, it did not deter the enthusiasm of hundreds of people.

Thank you to the many parents who helped make the day a terrific success.

Harmony Day

Last Friday we celebrated ‘Harmony Day’ to acknowledge the cultural diversity that exists within our community. Amazingly, Beechboro Christian School is home to students with backgrounds from 41 different countries! We enjoyed incredible food and were entertained through song, dance and stories from around the world. Thank you to the many parents who helped make the day a huge success. Due to their generosity, we raised over $600 to purchase books for our library.

ANZAC Day

On Friday 24th April we will be hosting an ANZAC Day service beginning at 2.20pm. Parents, friends and relatives are encouraged to attend and support our students who will be involved. Students belonging to groups such as Boys/Girls Brigades, Scouts or Guides are welcome to wear their uniform and participate in the service.

BCS Inventors Project

The BCS Inventors Project is an extension opportunity for students in Years 1-6. Over Terms 2 and 3 interested participants will be involved in researching, planning, designing and creating an invention of their choice. If your child is interested in participating please complete the response form that was sent home this week or email Mrs Cole aureliac@scea.wa.edu.au There will be an information session for students early in Term 2. In the mean time you can talk to your child about their ideas and interests.

Einstein Discovery Day

The inaugural BCS Einstein Discovery Day will be held on Tuesday 12 May (a few days earlier than scheduled). This will be an awesome day of mathematical and scientific discovery. Whether or not you have skills in these areas, we require the help of many parents to ensure the day is a success. Please email Mr Dunjey geoffreyd@scea.wa.edu.au if you can assist.

Term 2 Dates

All important dates are on the school calendar http://www.beechborocs.wa.edu.au/news-events/calendar/ Please take particular note of the following…
• Term 2 commences Monday 20 April
• ANZAC Day holiday is Monday 27th April
• There will be an extra-long weekend as Friday 29th May is a pupil free day and Monday 1 June is the WA Day holiday

Student Pick Up

To ease congestion and increase safety at the Marshall Rd end of the school, the drop-off area on Bennett Springs Dr is now available for pick-up.

The pick-up will operate in the same way as the front….
• Parents drive in one way
• If you can see your child waiting, proceed to the furthest bay
• If you cannot see your child, exit the area, proceed to a round-about and try again

If you need to park your vehicle you can do so in the carpark off Marshall Rd or at the car park adjoining Bennett Springs Sport Field. Whilst parking along the fence line is not desirable, please refrain from parking on the corner as it limits visibility for drivers exiting the pick-up area.

Given that these procedures have been set in place for your child’s safety, we thank you in advance for your cooperation and welcome any feedback you may have.

Arrival and Departure Reminder

Please remember that students arriving prior to 8am or departing after 3.30pm must be admitted to ‘Camp Australia’ for before and after school care. You can register at http://www.campaustralia.com.au/Schools/BeechboroChristianSchool/F0D9

From the Chaplain...

Having come to the end of our first term, we as a school are grateful to God for His protection and faithfulness. We had some amazing community events happen from our Summer Nights, Bennett Springs Fair, Harmony day, Mum’s Coffee Catch-up and our Easter Celebration - just to list a few. In and through this I am reminded that we have a beautiful community here at BCS and dedicated staff that seek to serve our kids in a Christ-centred manner. Our kids are valuable, to be cherished, unique and we, as parents, have been given the responsibility to nurture them so that they could grow and develop into men and women of God who will carry within them an inner identity rooted in Christ’s unconditional love for them. A challenge, yet we have the Word of God that tells us in Prov 3:5 - 6 (NKJV) to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths” which is encouraging. I do hope you have a restful and safe holiday with your family and friends.

Bless you all, Rebecca.
