Surf Patrol Season Kicks Off for 2020/21Thousands of volunteer surf lifesavers across NSW returned to the beach over the weekend for the first patrol of the season. Lifesavers were joined by the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, David Elliott at Queenscliff Surf Life Saving Club on Sydney’s Northern Beaches to raise the first iconic red and yellow flags of the new patrol season. World's Largest CPR Class a SuccessSLSNSW was proud to partner with the former yellow Wiggle Greg Page and Nextdoor in a world record attempt for the most people trained in CPR at one time. The free virtual event beamed live from the Castle Hill RSL on 19 September was estimated to have reached around 25,000 people on the night, and an additional 5000 post the event. New Woolgoolga Surf Club Opens for the Patrol SeasonWoolgoolga Surf Life Saving Club on the North Coast has plenty to celebrate with the official opening of a new Surf Life Saving club to service the members and the community. The $4M facility was funded from a mix of grants from Federal, State and Local Governments.
Teenager Drowns Near ForsterSurf lifesavers are pleading with holidaymakers to always swim between the red and yellow flags, at patrolled locations, after a teenager drowned at an unpatrolled beach on the NSW Lower North Coast yesterday. The 17-year-old boy was swimming with members of his family at Diamond Beach near Forster when he got into trouble in a rip. In support of SLSCs in NSW, SLSNSW provides a professional grant service at no fee to NSW SLSCs through Surf Life Saving Foundation’s Grant Seeking Unit (GSU). The GSU is a national grant research and writing support unit for SLS entities across Australia.
