Surf Patrol Season Kicks Off for 2020/21
Thousands of volunteer surf lifesavers across NSW returned to the beach over the weekend for the first patrol of the season. Lifesavers were joined by the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, David Elliott at Queenscliff Surf Life Saving Club on Sydney’s Northern Beaches to raise the first iconic red and yellow flags of the new patrol season.
World's Largest CPR Class a Success
SLSNSW was proud to partner with the former yellow Wiggle Greg Page and Nextdoor in a world record attempt for the most people trained in CPR at one time. The free virtual event beamed live from the Castle Hill RSL on 19 September was estimated to have reached around 25,000 people on the night, and an additional 5000 post the event.
New Woolgoolga Surf Club Opens for the Patrol Season
Woolgoolga Surf Life Saving Club on the North Coast has plenty to celebrate with the official opening of a new Surf Life Saving club to service the members and the community. The $4M facility was funded from a mix of grants from Federal, State and Local Governments.
Teenager Drowns Near Forster
Surf lifesavers are pleading with holidaymakers to always swim between the red and yellow flags, at patrolled locations, after a teenager drowned at an unpatrolled beach on the NSW Lower North Coast yesterday. The 17-year-old boy was swimming with members of his family at Diamond Beach near Forster when he got into trouble in a rip.

Freshwater SLSC - Tim's Dream for Emily and Arlo Fundraiser
Join Freshwater SLSC on Saturday 14 November for a fundraising tribute for well known Freshwater SLSC member Tim Kirkby.
Diagnosed at 19 with Lymphoma, Tim endured cancer three times by the age of 28. One week shy of his son's first birthday, Tim tragically succumbed to the disease.
A live and silent auction will be held on the night with some incredible prizes on offer, including prized sporting memorabilia, surf boards and holiday adventures.

Expressions of Interest are now open for the National Leadership College 2021.
NSW Local Sport Defibrillator Grants
The program provides NSW sports clubs the opportunity to acquire an AED package at a reduced cost.

The NSW Office of Children's Guardian will deliver a free webinar on the Child Safe Standards of Sports on Wednesday 14 October from 1:00pm - 3:00pm.

2020 Envirobank NSW Super Team Series
SLSNSW is excited to introduce the 2020 Envirobank NSW Super Team Series - a new event concept that features six teams competing over three rounds in Swim, Ski, Board, Sprint, Flags, 2km Run and Relay racing.
- Round One - Saturday 17 October 2020, Swansea-Belmont SLSC
- Round Two - Saturday 7 November 2020, Bulli SLSC
- Round Three - Saturday 5 December 2020, Umina SLSC
Grants & Fundraising
Grant funding is an ideal way to obtain equipment, infrastructure or program funding for your club. In support of SLSCs in NSW, SLSNSW provides a professional grant service at no fee to NSW SLSCs through Surf Life Saving Foundation’s Grant Seeking Unit (GSU). The GSU is a national grant research and writing support unit for SLS entities across Australia.

Kitchen Catch Up - Understanding Mental Health & Wellbeing
In these unique times, many people may be feeling anxious, worried or afraid as COVID-19 continues to impact us all. Looking after the mental health of ourselves, friends and family is an important part of staying well.
Join us for a 60-minute Kitchen Catch Up with two of our accredited Mental Health First Aid Trainers to learn more about Mental Health and how to look after yourself and others.

Australian Lifeguard Service NSW - Recruitment Now Open!
With over 350 positions available across 90 locations, the ALS is encouraging surf lifesavers to apply as a means of offering local employment, building stronger relationships with clubs and providing opportunities for club members to develop leadership and lifesaving skills as:
- Lifeguard Supervisors
- Seasonal Lifeguards
- Casual Lifeguards.
Returning 2019/20 lifeguards must reapply online with their user number and password. To ensure your application is registered please follow the instructions on the Become a Lifeguard page of the Australian Lifeguard Service NSW website.
Australian UAV Service - Paid Positions Now Available!
With a presence in every coastal council, the AUAVS is encouraging SLS members to apply as a means of offering local employment, building stronger relationships with clubs and providing opportunities for club members to develop leadership and lifesaving skills as:
- UAV Operators (non-RePL)
- UAV Pilots (RePL).
