New Smart Card system for Dinner Plain bus serviceThis season Alpine Spirit Coaches will be introducing a ‘smart card’ ticketing system for the Dinner Plain Bus Service.
If guests are using the Dinner Plain bus in either direction, they will need to purchase a smart card from an agent, as listed on the attached flyer. The RMB office will be one of these agents.
Please note that One 'Smart Card' will be issued per family. However Alpine Spirit do recommend purchasing a second card to use in case the family do not travel together.
The cards are $5 each and need to be activated and topped up with funds online via the Alpine Spirit website.
The Smart Card can be purchased from agents on and off the mountain – for the full list of agents, please press the button below.
Hotham bus after hours ‘Hail a Bus’ system The new free Village bus service is set to dramatically improve visitor experience through modern, warm and spacious buses that are managed in real time by an on-mountain transport operations manager, who will ensure the buses meet the fluctuating demand throughout the day. Part of the new service, provided by Alpine Spirit Coaches, is the ‘Hail a Bus’ system, which operates from 8:00pm to 1:45am. ‘Hail a Bus’ allows guests to request a bus pick-up and track the
progress of the bus, which means guests can wait in the comfort of their accommodation, a restaurant or bar, until the bus is due to arrive at the bus stop.

Pick Your Project: Funding for regional community projects The Victorian government is providing funding for local community projects under their ‘Pick My Project’ program.
$30 million will be provided in the Victorian Budget 2018/19 and will be spread across the state, giving every community the chance to benefit.
All residents aged 16 and over will be able to submit their idea for consideration under the program and local residents will nominate and decide on their own funding priorities.
All they’ll need is an idea that helps build a stronger community, and the backing of a local organisation, community group, school, local council, or other eligible group able to help deliver the project. See here for who can be a sponsoring organisation: https://pickmyproject.vic.gov.au/guidelines
Ideas could include anything from sporting and recreation infrastructure, community arts projects, improvements to community facilities or the local environment.
Projects will need to be feasible and have land-owner consent, but there will be no restrictive guidelines – meaning many local priorities that fall-between the cracks of other grant programs will now be eligible for funding.
Projects between $20,000 and $200,000 will be eligible under the program, with funding spread between the nine Regional Partnership Regions and six Metropolitan Partnership Regions.
Applications close on 24 June 2018 and winning projects will be announced in September 2018. To get ready and register your interest, click the button below.
