Class 4 NICs rise to be delayed and other Budget highlights

Theresa May is set to delay Chancellor Philip Hammond’s move to raise Class 4 national insurance contributions (NICs) until the autumn after some Conservative MPs strongly objected to the measure.

The Chancellor announced in the Budget that the main rate of Class 4 NICs for self-employed people will increase from 9% to 10% from April 2018, with a further increase to 11% in April 2019.
