Vanessa specialises in working in Autism, sensory disabilities, and psycho-social disabilities, and can speak fluent Auslan Sign Language (ASL). Sisters for Success - Working toward gender equality Earlier this year we had the privilege of celebrating International Women's day with a diverse group of young women and special guests. Here's a look into what we learned and how the next generation plans to use their voices to uplift each other and challenge the norm.
Do you know any multicultural seniors (65+)? We are accepting more people into our Centre-Based and Community Respite Program on the Gold Coast. If you have a parent or grandparent over the age of 65 that you think would benefit from more social activities, this could be a great program for them! Centre-Based Respite The CURA Wellness Centre hosts diverse groups of seniors during the week for socialising, sharing meals and having fun! We have our very own chef cooking healthy and delicious meals, and our wonderful staff organising a range of activities to enjoy. Programs run from 10am-2pm and we can arrange transport to and from home if needed. We are located at 1 Dominions Road Ashmore. Community Outings We schedule regular bus outings for small groups to enjoy a variety of community activities including cafes, farms, concerts, museums, galleries, clubs, wineries and more. It's a great way to get out and about, make new friends and have new experiences. Thanks for celebrating Harmony Week with us Thank you to everyone who got involved in Harmony Week this year, what an incredible range of activities we had across the GC to celebrate diversity and spread the message of welcome! We ended our celebrations by hosting our first Citizenship Ceremony at our Wellness Centre for 10 new Aussie citizens and it was a beautiful way to finish off another wonderful Harmony Week. We are lucky to live in such a multicultural and welcoming city and we hope you all felt the love and spirit of harmony and continue to spread the important message throughout the year. Breast Screening ElanoraThe BreastScreen Queensland Gold Coast service mobile unit will be at The Pines Elanora during April, offering free breast cancer screening to women, without current breast cancer symptoms. Women aged 40 and older can book a free breast screen by calling 132 050.
