NFDC RELEASE THEIR 'LONG LIST' OF AWARD NOMINEES In case you missed our announcement this week, the NFDC were proud to reveal our 'long list' of nominees. The NFDC were overwhelmed with responses, receiving a record number of nominations from NFDC Member Companies. Each nomination demonstrated the strength of our Demolition Workforce, as well as the pride each Member Company placed in their chosen employees. NFDC Corporate Members also pulled out all the stops to demonstrate their credibility in Training Excellence and Health & Safety. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTS FLOW OF EU LABOURERS Home Secretary Priti Patel on Wednesday released the Government's policy statement regarding immigration labour. A new points based system due to be implemented from 1st January 2021 will cease the free movement of EU citizens, altering the way in which 'migrants come to the UK to work, study, visit or join their family'. This follows attempts by the industry to demonstrate the harmful impact of reducing the numbers of 'low-skilled' workers into the UK. Questions are now being posed on how to deal with the imminent skills shortage.

CSCS COMMIT TO FIXING ONLINE APPLICATION ISSUES In a statement issued by CSCS, which followed a spate of complaints regarding their Customer Service and card delays, the Certification Scheme have vowed to fix the technical issues with their online application service. Their online application system was newly launched in December 2019 and has promised to typically process cards within 2 - 5 working days.

NEW SKILLS AND TRAINING FUND DUE FOR LAUNCH From April 2020 the Skills & Training Grants available from CITB are set to change with an announcement to be made in April 2020. Previously Skills & Training grants have been available for companies with up to 99 employees only, but employers with 100 or more could soon find they are eligible!

NATIONAL DEMOLITION TRAINING GROUP AGMThe NDTG AGM took place on Friday 14th February, presided over by the current Chairman David Darsey with support from Group CEO Howard Button. The event was a great success with many insightful presentations given by Chris Carter-Rowlands, Deputy Head of Construction at NOCN regarding the CPCS transfer and Carl Licorish of CITB's Partnerships Team regarding the upcoming changes to the Skills & Training Fund. Due focus and attention were
given to the National Federation of Demolition Contractor's Mental Health & Wellbeing Programme and the positive uptake and feedback already received.
METROPOLITAN DEMOLITION ENTER THE FOLD North East Chairman Lee Rowbotham presented Metropolitan Demolition's Michael J Hirst with their NFDC Membership Certificate at the Regional AGM on Tuesday 21st January.
