Meghan Carrasquillo - Actor (Lookout)

Meghan Carrasquillo is an accomplished actress, writer, and filmmaker whose career spans both independent film and genre storytelling. She began working in film and television at a young age and has since built a diverse body of work that reflects her passion for emotionally complex, layered characters.

Her latest thriller, Lookout, will be released worldwide on September 2nd, showcasing her ability to ground suspense with humanity and depth. She also wrote, directed and stars in the sci-fi short Bot or Not, which will have its Los Angeles premiere at Screamfest this October. In addition to her on-screen work, Meghan is actively developing original projects as a filmmaker, with a focus on elevated and character-driven stories that push the boundaries of genre.

Looking ahead, Meghan has some exciting announcements coming soon. One being for an upcoming wide theatrical release set to be announced later this year, along with additional films arriving on digital platforms later this year as well. With each project, she continues to bring versatility and artistry to her performances while collaborating with visionary storytellers.

JRM: How did you personally connect with your character? Are there any similarities between you and her?

Meghan: I connected with my character through her determination and quiet strength. Even when she feels uncertain, she pushes forward, something I relate to deeply as both an actress and in my own life. Like her, I tend to process things internally before acting, but once I commit, I give everything I have.

JRM: What conversations were happening behind the scenes - between you and the director or among the cast - that shaped the approach to key moments/scenes?

Meghan: A lot of our behind-the-scenes conversations revolved around tension and pacing. We wanted to make sure that even in the quieter moments, there was always an undercurrent of suspense. The director and I often talked about balancing vulnerability with resilience. How to make the audience root for the character while still keeping them on edge.

JRM: Was there a particular moment on set that was especially memorable to you?

Meghan: There was a night shoot where everything just clicked. The atmosphere, the energy of the crew, and the intensity of the scene. Even though we were exhausted, the rawness of that night made the performance feel alive. To make it even more memorable, we were attempting to master a long oner for a pivotal scene, and boy did we master it. That combination of challenge and payoff made the night unforgettable.

JRM: What kind of roles are you most drawn to in your career right now?

Meghan: I’m drawn to layered, emotionally complex roles. Characters who aren’t easily defined. I love stories that allow me to explore vulnerability and transformation, whether in thrillers, dramas, or even more intimate indie films.

JRM: If you could be in a remake of any classic thriller or suspense film, which one would you pick?

Meghan: I would want to be part of a King Kong remake. I know there have been plenty already but what’s one more? The story still has so much emotional depth to explore, especially the dynamic between beauty, power, and humanity’s relationship with the unknown. It’s both a spectacle and a tragedy, and I’d love the opportunity to bring a fresh perspective to such an iconic tale.

JRM: What’s next for you after Lookout?

Meghan: After Lookout, I have a few projects in the works, including my own short films that I’ve been developing as both an actress and filmmaker. I’m also thrilled to have my film Bot or Not premiering at Screamfest in LA this October, which I can’t wait to share with audiences. Beyond that, I have some very exciting wide theatrical release announcements coming soon for another film, though I can’t say anything just yet. What I can say is that I’m excited to keep exploring stories that challenge me artistically and resonate with audiences on a deeper level.
