A Day to Remember This Saturday marks 105 years since the fateful landing of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) troops on the shores of the Gallipoli peninsula on 25 April 1915. One of the first to enlist, Homebush-born Private Aubrey Farmer (SERN: 325) landed at Gallipoli that morning with the 3rd Battalion. He was killed just four days later, having earned himself the Distinguished Conduct Medal for organising a party to carry a badly wounded captain to the rear under heavy fire. Aubrey Farmer was just 23 years of age and is remembered with honour on the Lone Pine Memorial at Gallipoli. Lest We Forget.
