Light Up The Dawn

Council is encouraging residents to still commemorate ANZAC Day this year, albeit a little differently. By standing at the end of your driveway, in your living room, or on your balcony at 6am on ANZAC Day, we can be united in the ANZAC spirit to remember all those who served and sacrificed.

ABC will broadcast the National Commemorative Service live from Canberra at 5:30am on Saturday 25 April via their television channel, radio station and facebook page. RSL NSW will also be streaming a 10am closed service from Sydney via their facebook page.

Please click below to access an audio file of the Last Post to be played during your own memorial.

A Day to Remember

This Saturday marks 105 years since the fateful landing of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) troops on the shores of the Gallipoli peninsula on 25 April 1915. One of the first to enlist, Homebush-born Private Aubrey Farmer (SERN: 325) landed at Gallipoli that morning with the 3rd Battalion. He was killed just four days later, having earned himself the Distinguished Conduct Medal for organising a party to carry a badly wounded captain to the rear under heavy fire. Aubrey Farmer was just 23 years of age and is remembered with honour on the Lone Pine Memorial at Gallipoli.

Lest We Forget.
