Stakeholder news from Mt Hotham Resort status Happy new year! It has not been the start to 2020 that we had hoped for, but we are pleased to report that the resort remains untouched thanks to the outstanding efforts of all involved in protecting Mt Hotham. The resort reopened on 17 January as the fire conditions eased and we have since had substantial rain, which has been very helpful. We are now working on a communications program around bushfire relief and recovery, see article below. Bushfire relief and recovery information There is a great deal of information now available via multiple channels for both local residents and businesses impacted by the fire, and for the general public who are keen to help. To manage this information, we have established a page on our website that will collect and collate this information, and will communicate this page out via our channels and via partner channels. If you have information you would like to contribute to this page, please email media@mthotham.com.au We would also like to help promote events and initiatives supporting the Hotham area and surrounding regions through our channels - please email us on the address above if you have suggestions. The web page is a work in progress, so please bear with us as we work on improving and updating it! Gas supply reconnection required As a part of fire preparation works, all properties at Mt Hotham had their gas supply turned off. When returning to the mountain, you will have no gas supply. For instructions to reconnect, please read this fact sheet, which will tell you how to safely re-establish supply to your dwelling. If you are at all unsure or need to turn on the mains supply to an apartment building with multiple meters, please contact MHARMB at (03) 5759 3550 between 8:00am and 4:30pm Mon-Fri to arrange for your service to be reconnected safely. Don't forget our FREE guided summer bushwalks! MHARMB's free summer bushwalking program was unfortunately impacted by the bushfires and we had to cancel the remainder of the January walks, but we will be restarting the walks as per the schedule on Sunday 8 March 2020. These walks are great for visitors, as they are easy, free, and provide an insight into areas of the resort that many people aren't familiar with. They're also family friendly, suitable for kids of all ages. Registration isn't compulsory but it does help us manage numbers. MHARMB recently hosted all our wonderful on-mountain partners for a thank-you lunch at the General. After the recent stressful bushfire events, we wanted everyone to come together to relax and celebrate the fact that we are still here and still open for business. Thank you to the General for another great lunch! |
