Upper Queen Street to Mercury Lane

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Finalise kerb stones and cycleway at the Upper Queen Street corner

Upcoming night works - what to expect:

These night works are taking place one evening this week due to high pedestrian numbers.  Footpath access will be maintained around the work.

  • Lift pavers and prepare surface for new pavers at the ANZ corner.   Please note there will be intermittent medium to high volume noise, i.e. trucks loading and rock breakers, but we will endeavour to have noisy works completed by 10:30pm.  This work is expected to take approximately 4 hours
  • Pedestrian flow around this corner will be changed to accommodate the paving work

Mercury Lane to West Terrace

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Continue construction in the carriageway and the outer edge of the footpath
  • Relocate the existing traffic control box to a temporary location - this will be moved to next week
  • Continue with rain garden installation
  • Continue with stormwater drainage construction and installation of new ducting
  • Continue laying cycleway and kerbline

Temporary Traffic management change - East Street:

At the end of this week we will be installing new ducts across East Street.  In order for this to be done without closing the road, we will be reducing East Street to one lane at the Karanagahape Road intersection.  This means that we will have a Stop/Go operation in place for the duration of this work.  This is expected to take one week.  We will return late June to construct the speed table.

Upcoming night works what to expect:

On Sunday night, 7 June night works is taking place at the pedestrian crossing.  This is in the section between West Terrace and East Street at the Day Street crossing.

These night works are taking place in the evening due to high pedestrian and vehicle numbers as changes to the traffic lights are required.  Vehicle and footpath access will be maintained around the work.

The existing traffic light will be removed and put onto a drum so that work on the kerbline can continue.  This work will only take one night to complete.  Please note there will be intermittent medium to high volume noise, i.e. grinding but we will endeavour to have noisy works completed by 10:30pm

Overbridge

The steel work for the overbridge is under construction and is expected to be complete by late June.

Hereford Street to Howe Street

The traffic management plans allow for work on one side of Howe Street at a time.  We have exposed the existing services and have also commenced installation of new ducting in this location.  Work on this corner is pending relocation of services by asset owners to allow our works to continue.
