Design updateThe design for the Health Sciences Stage 2 project has now been split into several elements, in order for work to progress more quickly in areas where there are critical milestones to be met around vacating rented accommodation, teaching needs and so on. The first element, which relates to the move of staff groups from Level 1 to Level 6, is almost complete, and the project team is working with the Faculty to progress the design for phases two and three. Designs at various stages for the remainder of project have been through the project reference groups and are undergoing a 'value management' process over the next two weeks. This entails looking at the proposed works and scope to find efficiencies and ensure the work doesn't exceed available budgets. Updates to the design of the project will be provided in future emails, and provided to staff by their managers and reference group members. Museum updateEarly July saw the completion of the first very tangible element of the Health Sciences Infrastructure Stage 2 (HSIS2) project in Med School South. The new (still to be named) museum space on Level 1 of MSS combines three previously disparate museums of pathology and anatomy, spread across various locations in the Med School buildings, into one updated museum and teaching facility. Great natural light, modern display cabinets, and space saving storage rooms combine with a ‘shop window’, a ‘disease of the month’ showcase area and new AV capabilities, providing Medicine and Medical Sciences students with a much improved learning asset that will be a pleasure to learn and teach in. Please wander down see the progress for yourself as the museum takes shape. Construction UpdateMedical School SouthProgram & Timing
