Fire restrictions and preparations Fire restrictions for the North East fire district come into effect on 30 November 2020. This applies to Mount Hotham Alpine Resort. It’s now time now to ensure we are prepared for the fire danger period. 1. Maintain properties and surrounding vegetation Check our Summer Preparedness Guide for what is required. 2. Know what you are permitted to do Find out what you can and can't do during the declared Fire Restriction Period and on days of Total Fire Ban, when fires in the open air are legally restricted. Don’t forget to take advantage of the upcoming hard waste collection on the 30th November. 3. Stay informed about conditions Download the Vic Emergency App on your phone and computer and set up your watch zones. Check the Fire Danger Ratings (FDR) daily for your area. The FDR tells you how dangerous a fire would be if one started. It helps you to know when conditions are dangerous enough to put your bushfire survival plan into action.
