Female Doctors in Canada Q & A Book edited by Family Medicine Faculty members explores the history and experiences of female medical practitioners in Canada. Female Doctors in Medicine, recently Published by the University of Toronto Press, was co-edited by University of Alberta Department of Family Medicine faculty members Earle Waugh, PhD; Shelley Ross, PhD and Dr. Shirley Schipper, MD. We had the opportunity to speak with them about their experience in bringing this book from idea to reality.
PRIHS Announces Funded Projects The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Health System (PRIHS) 4: Enhancing Care in the Community recently announced six funded projects. These six health projects are being showcased here.
AHS Research Challenge - Mentors Needed Experienced researchers are needed to mentor novice researchers for this Research Challenge. Health Professions Strategy and Practice (HPSP) & System Innovations and Programs (SIP) are holding competition for teams of front-line nurses, allied health and other care providers who will work together of 20-24 months (May 2019-Fall 2020) to learn about clinical research and conduct a small scale research study designed to answer their clinical research question. Successful applicants will receive education and mentorship from an experienced researcher to design and
conduct a small scale research project. To mentor a team or for more information please email research.challenge@ahs.ca Expressions of interest are due April 30, 2019.

Family Medicine Research Day Call for Abstracts The Department of Family Medicine Research Day will be held Friday, June 7, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the Edmonton Clinic Health Academy (ECHA) room L1 490, University of Alberta. You are invited to submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation on research or practice quality improvement projects of relevance to family medicine or primary care. Abstract submissions from resident, students and researchers are welcome, and can be downloaded here. Please email the completed abstract form to olga.szafran@ualberta.ca The deadline for abstract submissions is May 17, 2019.
