Year 6 SATs & Park Celebration

We did it! Last week the Year 6 students took on the challenge of School 21's first ever SATs tests. The effort everyone put in over the week, and the months before to prepare, was incredible. All of the students were positive and tried their absolute best each day. Big recognition and thanks to all of the staff who supported the students in preparing and throughout the test week, to the other students of middle school for stepping up and helping out (and dealing with room changes all week long!) and also to the parents and families for supporting the children as well. Here's Abdi and Mr Thompson on a victory lap around West Ham Park during the celebration day on Friday last week!

Salesforce Tower Pitch tuning

Last week the Year 8 students working on the Maker Faire project visited the Salesforce Tower to finalise their product pitches for next week. Students have worked in teams to develop a product to address one of the Sustainable Development Goals. They will take their three top ideas - a reusable straw, solar powered vertical garden beds for corporate high rise buildings and an automated sea net for catching ocean plastics - to the Salesforce World Tour event at the Excel Centre next week. We will be competing against teams from the University Academy of Engineering with the winning team taking a $5000 prize to spend on technology for their school. It was a great day of collaboration and big picture thinking and all students represented School 21 with pride. Wish us luck for next week!

Summer Fair Update

Coming up on Friday 5th July is our Annual Summer Fair, organised collaboratively with Primary. We would really love to have as many parents involved as possible in preparing, running and tidying up after the event. If you would like to be involved (even if it is just to donate an hour or two of your time!), please email Ms Kyrk (akyrk@school21.org.uk).

We will need help throughout the event which will run from 3:30pm to 6:00pm, and also in the weeks leading up to the event. Some of our wonderful parental community have already kicked off booking rides and stalls, so please get in touch if you would like to join them!

Some of the areas we would love some help with are:

- Planning the event
- Setting up for the event (throughout the day on the 5th July)
- Selling tickets running up to the event
- Packing away and tidying at the end of the event
- Preparing food and drinks
- Visiting / canvassing businesses to collect prizes for the raffles
- Supporting on stalls
- Running games / activities

There is an opportunity as well to run your own stall during the event for a one off stall fee. Please get in touch with Ms Kyrk for further information.

Please note that while all students are welcome to attend the Summer Fair, parents or carers must attend with them, even in Years 7 and 8.

Recognition last week

Our recognition boards with filled with names again this week. Congratulations and thank you to all who demonstrated working in the zone, choosing kind and stepping up - you make our Middle School community #middlestrong!

The Lunch Menu has changed - please see the changes above.
