It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Two more sleeps until the 2019 Strathfield Christmas Carols! Festivities will kick off at 6pm with a stage performance, children’s activities including a petting zoo and face painting, a visit from Santa and a special Movies in the Park screening The Grinch (2018).
When: Saturday 7 December 2019, 6pm – 10pm
Where: Bressington Park
Please note in light of recent bushfires and the likelihood of fire bans being in effect, a fireworks display has been cancelled for this year’s Christmas Carols.
Protecting Against Air Pollution
The forecast for air quality over the next few days is poor. NSW Health states this could be a problem for susceptible people such as people with lung issues, and advises everyone to avoid strenuous activity outside. With Strathfield Christmas Carols on this Saturday, locals are asked to come to the event prepared for their personal situation.
Do You Know a Local Hero?
Council is seeking nominations for people who make Strathfield a better place! Is there anyone who you know that generously volunteers their time, effort and skills to help others in the community? The Local Citizen of the Year Awards 2020 is accepting nominations until 5pm Friday 10 January 2020.

Stop It or Cop It
Mobile phone detection cameras have been in operation on NSW roads since 1 December. Warning letters will be issued for the first three months. Following this period, penalties of five demerit points and a $344 fine ($456 in a school zone) will apply.

Christmas Notice for Development Applications
During the Christmas and New Year period, notification for all Development Applications, Section 4.55 Applications and Section 8.2 Applications, will be extended beyond the regular notification periods to exclude any days between 20 December 2019 and 10 January 2020.
