Fascial Distortion Model is an assessment and treatment model that primarily uses manual techniques to reduce pain and stiffness and improve mobility in patients. It emphasizes using pattern recognition of HOW a patient shows their symptoms with six different sets of hand gestures. By translating these gesture into a working framework of the condition, FDM gives providers the ability to choose the best manual treatment method to speed recovery. Physicians using FDM often find they prescribe less medication, and many providers report an increase in their job satisfaction by implementing FDM. Classes are structured to learn the theory of FDM, learn to recognize the hand gestures patients use to describe their symptoms, and copious time learning manual techniques that can be applied in the clinic immediately. FDM is open to DO, MD, NP, PA-C, PT, PTA, OT, AT, ND, DPM, DDS, DMD, and certified Structural Integration practitioners (Rolfers).
