Hello!
We're currently seeking pitches and submissions on the theme of "Keeping the Faith."Religion is often talked about as antithetical to so much of modern life; we're looking for stereotype-busting stories that dig into the complexities of how faith conflicts with the messiness of life in the 21st Century; and surprising ways that people make it work (or don't). As always, we want to be surprised; we want unexpected insights and stories we've never seen before. And, importantly, we're not looking for stories about miracles or prayers being answered, but narrative, active stories about navigating the complexities of life while keeping the faith,
or leaving it behind. These pieces can be first-person or reported. Here are a few of examples of stories we've done on this theme in the past, to give you a clearer sense of what we're looking for. (Please read them before pitching/submitting!):I Found God at Queer Summer Camp How Running Ruined My Relationship, Killed My Faith…and Saved My Life For These Orthodox Jewish Designers,
Leopard Print is the New “Modest” Fashion As always, we accept pitches for reported pieces and finished submissions of personal essays via our Submittable page.
And, as always, we're looking for great pitches and submissions for untold human stories across Narratively's broad range of topics. Take a look at our collections here, and pitch for any of them, any time via our Submittable page.
Thanks,
The Narratively Team
