Online GMAT Testing
A Tip from Kyle W. Johns

Greetings, Vols!

My family took time this past Sunday to reflect and remember the hope we have even in times of trials. I hope you were able to take time to reflect and refresh over the long weekend. Our exercise routine continues, and this week I am sharing two highlights. The first I call “Abs with Labs.” Our family dog adds a whole new meaning to the term, emotional support animal, but he is only trying to help and definitely adds humor to the workout :)

The second is my introduction to “Sally.” If you are not familiar with Sally, check out this link. Hey, at least you can do it outside! I am starting to realize we have more muscles than I knew about. Don’t worry. Believe it or not, the semester is drawing to an end, so you will be spared from enduring every challenge my kids throw at me.

I know you are facing challenges of your own. As you are working through your online learning and testing environment, I hope your growing experience and continuing dialogue with your instructors is helping you build confidence. Take time to encourage your friends, classmates and instructors, and be encouraged yourself.

The Graduate Management Admission Council is making online GMAT testing available as COVID-19 has shut down testing centers. This is good news for students considering graduate school given the uncertainty of the current job market. Click here for more information.

Kyle W. Johns, CFA is a Vice President and Principal of Atlanta Capital Management.  He is a member of Atlanta Capital's fixed income portfolio management team which manages approximately $2 billion in high quality fixed income assets on behalf of institutional clients.  He joined the firm in 2007 and is a graduate of the University of Tennessee where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance.  Kyle holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Kyle’s tip for finance students during the current environment:  “If students are interested in pursuing a career in money management, now is a great time to make the most out of the current situation and begin studying for the CFA exam.  Level 1 is offered in December and the curriculum dovetails with most undergrad finance and accounting courses.  The CFA program reinforces the concepts and technical skills learned at the Haslam College of Business and will help a resume stand out during these challenging times.”
