Dear BC Students, Whether it is your first year at BC or you are returning, welcome, and happy first day of classes! I hope you were able to enjoy your summer and are gearing up for an exciting fall semester. My name is Dr. Shawna Cooper-Gibson, and I am thrilled to be joining the Boston College community as the new Vice President for Student Affairs. I look forward to meeting you this year! As part of our Weeks of Welcome programming, Student Affairs and campus partners have a number of events planned in the coming weeks, including career fairs, multicultural events, health and wellness programs, and the annual Student Involvement Fair happening this Friday. View our calendar of events here. I encourage you to engage and take advantage of these opportunities. I am excited that we can again offer these events and programs in person, and reinstate many of the traditions that are hallmarks of the Boston College student experience. However, given the unpredictable nature of COVID-19, we may need to modify policies and procedures because of changing conditions and guidance from local, state, and federal officials. I am confident that together we can navigate and adapt to any challenges that might arise. As you settle into your new home and new routines (which may feel very different from last year), Student Affairs is here to support you. If you have any questions or need assistance, please visit any of our departments, talk with your resident advisor, or contact my office directly. I am holding open office hours most Fridays from 3:00-5:00 p.m., so if you would like to discuss something, please stop by Maloney 412 to introduce yourself and say hello. On behalf of the Division of Student Affairs, we are very excited to welcome you here on campus. See you on the Heights! Sincerely, Dr. Shawna Cooper-Gibson P.S.
