Eagle Flight 2018 UPDATETHANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Thanks to your generous donations, our school raised a staggering $30,428.04 in this year's Eagle Flight! A huge thank you to Melanie Norman and Heather Rose for heading one of our biggest fundraisers. From event planning, to tee-shirts, to prizes and more, these ladies deserve special recognition for all the personal time they invested for the sake of our school. Please give them a warm word of appreciation when you see them! In addition, we appreciate the help of Jane Molay, Linda Blake, Lanette Buchanan, and the 8th grade students with the blitzing this year. We would also like to thank our sponsors shown below as well as Engineered Audio Video for supplying our sound for the event. Once again, our community has shown amazing support for our school and we couldn't be more grateful! Enjoy the Eagle Flight highlight video! OLV Volleyball Players Excel Hats off to our middle school athletes that, through hard work and perseverance, have advanced to play at the high school level. Helen just finished up a season with the Freshman volleyball team at John Carroll and Maria and Stella both played with the John Carroll JV team this fall. These girls also had the opportunity to play at the varsity level against some of the best teams in the state in an out-of-town tournament. Both parents and players credit their success with the strong background the girls received at OLV from Coach Kristie Ford. Way to go girls! Keep up the good work! And congratulations to our 7th grade girls Sophia, Kaitlin, and Ele for an outstanding season. This middle school team won 1st place for the season in the Southern Conference Division! Awesome job girls! Thanks to the kindhearted efforts of three fourth grade students, some people in Greene County, AL will be a little warmer this winter. Peyton, Avery, and Marissa spearheaded a coat drive during the week of October 8th and collected over 60 coats for those in need. Living the Gospel through our actions is what we are all called to do and these girls have served as a great example for us all. P.E. Challenges... An OLV Tradition In grades 5-8, the end of each thematic unit in P.E. culminates in a challenge where students have a chance to show off their newly-learned skills. Byers played football during his years at John Carroll High School then continued on to play at Birmingham Southern. He finished 2017 ranked nationally in three categories, including ninth in passes defended and 20th in interceptions. This year, he is ranked nationally in interceptions per game and sits second in the league. Finalists are eligible for an $18.000 post-graduate scholarship and will be announced on October 31. The winner of the Campbell Trophy will be awarded an increase to a $25.000 post-graduate scholarship and will be recognized at the NFF Annual Awards Dinner in New York City in December.
