Bungan Beach and North Avoca Junior Lifesavers Win State AwardCongratulations to Kale Puata (North Avoca SLSC) and Chloe Carr (Bungan Beach SLSC), the 2020 NSW Junior Lifesavers of the Year! For the first time in its 32-year history, the process for the selection of the prestigious awards for 13 and 14-year old lifesavers has been completed online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Season Thanks to Volunteers and LifeguardsSurf Life Saving NSW and the Australian Lifeguard Service thanks all volunteers and paid lifeguards for their vigilance and service during these extraordinary and unprecedented times and look forward to returning to beaches to protect and save lives next season. Patrols Go Virtual During CoronavirusIt’s not only office workers who are turning to video conferencing to communicate and keep in touch during the Coronavirus pandemic. Surf lifesavers are also using this technology to stay connected with other surf club members. Race Analysis SeriesThe Race Analysis Series is an opportunity to walk through surf sports finals with our champions. We'll break down the winning performances so you can pick up tips and tricks to help you improve your racing skills. In episode one, join Max Brooks with his coach Nick Carroll and brother Charlie to talk through tactics, techniques and what was going through the champion Ironman's head during the 2019 Australian Ironman race. Off Duty Lifesavers Win Award For Bronte Mass RescueA mass rescue that was described as incredible and heroic, has won lifesavers James and Kirsty McLennan a Rescue of the Month Award for saving the lives of nine people who were caught in the notorious Bronte Beach rip. Original Yellow Wiggle Promotes Safe CPR During Covid-19 CrisisSurf Life Saving NSW has teamed up with the original “Yellow Wiggle”, Greg Page, to launch a new video demonstrating safe cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) technique during the COVID-19 pandemic. Living Room Lifesavers - Online CPR CourseFor the very first time, we’ve made our surf lifesavers' training resource available to the community, allowing you to learn life saving CPR skills at home. SLSNSW Donates Protective Equipment to Frontline PoliceOn behalf of SLSNSW, CEO Steven Pearce has donated 11,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) masks to the NSW Police Force. Navy Dynamic Duo - Protecting Australians On and Off the BeachMany of those who keep our beaches safe as volunteer surf lifesavers also defend our country as members of the Australian Defence Force. On weekends, Louise and Owen Skjeime are active members of Garie Surf Life Saving Club and Bondi Surf Bathers Life Saving Club, patrolling the NSW coastline as volunteers.
