The Way We Were

Orso Major Gallery is proud to present an exhibition of complex screen prints by Janet Brooke RE documenting the east London landscape from 1980-2000.

Opening on Tuesday18th November 2014, the exhibition will transport the viewer to the 1980-2000 East London landscape with screen prints of storefronts & street furniture that once occupied this now gentrified locale.

East London

Brooke was inspired to capture these neglected aspects of our urban environment, recognising that soon they would be gone, and the memory of them would fade much like the paint on the fascia.

Each of the prints shows the passing of time.  In the case of the shop fronts, the build up of signage, paint, labels and notices are applied one on top of another, echoing the ever changing nature of city life.

Private View - 19th November

The Private View will take place on Wednesday 19th November from 6pm - 8.30pm, and we really hope you can make it.  This is a chance to both meet the artist and see some very collectable works that haven't been shown together for over ten years.

The exhibition runs from 18th November to 29th November at the gallery at 19 Lower Marsh, London, SE1 7RJ

We continue to stock the popular linocut prints by Janet Brooke of the Wren Churches of London, Canary Wharf, Gherkin and the Shard.
