NOTICES:
*Safety of our Students: It is important for the safety of our students and local residents that all parents who drive to school in the mornings and afternoons are adhering to the road rules. We ask you all to consider the following: - Do not speed on our surrounding roads as many families walk to and from school and this compromises their
safety.
- Do not park on the zig zag lines at the front of the school as this impacts on our students safely crossing the road.
- Do not park across the driveways of our neighbours, as this will disrupt access to their private property. As a school we suggest walking or catching public transport to school to where possible. If you have to drive, there is often ample parking spaces a little further away from the school, which may also alleviate the congestion and stress of the morning. We thank you for your cooperation on this matter and your consideration of our local community. **The 2018/2019 Academic Year begins on Monday 10th September 2018.***Shoes and clothing donations please! If you have any shoes/plimsolls/wellies or tights and socks that your child has grown out of, please can you bring them along to the Reception classrooms. Thank you!
****Equipment - Parents please ensure your child comes into school with all the equipment and food they will need for the day. The front office will not be responsible for taking things to classroom as this is disruptive to children's learning.Reminder to Parents - No bicycles or scooters are to be ridden in the school gates, this includes when coming to collect from after school clubs - No climbing is permitted on the bicycle racks
Our First Sports Day! Reception had a great time at their first ever School 21 sports day on Monday. Everybody took part in a range of different activities and we were so impressed with the grit and determination that all of the children showed. Thank you to all of the families who joined us for that exciting day.
Art Matters Exhibition at UEL displaying work from School 21!This week our Year 2's have been on a trip to The University of East London to see beautiful artwork created by schools all over East London. They even got a chance to see a project they created last year in the
exhibition! If you would like to see Year 2's project from last year, "How can we represent the world through pattern?" or Reception's project"How can we celebrate something special?" in a real exhibition go along to UEL to see the marvellous things the children have created!

Measuring Length in Year 1! This week in Maths we have been measuring length! We went onto our school field with bean bags, tape measures and metre sticks. We worked in trios and had to predict if our beanbag would go further than a metre. It was interesting to see who had
the longest and shortest throw.
Prepping our ProductsThis Week Year 2 started to create their final products! After weeks of practising, designing and critiquing it has
finally been time to start making the toys using all of the skills we have developed. In pairs, we used our design to to choose a template for the main part of our animals body, we used the template to cut out both sides and then cut out all the main and smaller features. It was then time to start stitching the larger features on and gluing on the smaller features.
Year 3's Spectacular CelebrationThis Week Year 3 wowed attendees of the international evening with their wonderful performances of singing, drumming, and samba music. Starting and ending the evening with energetic and lively singing, the pupils demonstrated that they can sing in a
round, keep a rhythm and perform with a smile! The year 3 teachers were impressed with how professionally the children moved between the performances and the enthusiasm that they showed throughout the evening.
Year 4 spend the night away
Last week most of year 4 went on a very exciting expedition of their own to Debden House to camp out for the night. While we were there children set up camp, ran around, explored the forest, ate dinner cooked by the teachers, toasted marshmallows and listened to a story around the campfire with hot chocolate and biscuits. The children were extremely well behaved and it was so lovely to see them really enagage with the outside environment.
Here are some quotes from the children:
"It's so green here"
"I love exploring the forest"
"Can we stay here all weekend?"
"Why do we have to go home now?"
A MASSIVE thank you to all the teachers and staff at School 21 who made this possible to go ahead and thank you to all parents who supported this trip in many ways!

ZU-UK ProjectTwo of our Year 4 parents run arts company ZU-UK and they are doing an incredible project called Pick Me Up (& hold me tight). The project takes place in all of the UK's pay phones (all 34,000) ringing at the same time in memory of those that have taken
their own lives. This will happen at 11am on the 1st January when there is a significant yearly spike. The subject is personal to them and a sensitive and ethically challenging one so they are raising money for a pilot in order for it to be as well thought out as possible. Out of £15,000 needed 27% has been raised already but there are only 14 days remaining to raise the rest or the project won't happen. See more here:
