#2 - THE MONTH THAT WAS JUNE 2017Hi There, Well, we have all managed to survive the first month of winter with lots of sunshine, freezing cold mornings and fabulous flying days which some of you have had the opportunity to experience. We hope everyone enjoyed reading the last newsletter. This month, we have decided to add a little more to our newsletters with various things that have occurred over the past month. We are now including an article from our pilots, so for all those aero savvy readers, this should be a great read for you. For the readers that don’t visit the Barossa Valley often, there is now an events calendar for the current month with the whole family in mind. Happy reading everyone!!

Ada BarclayOMG!!! We got a phone call to find out if there is a maximum age restriction on who we can take for a flight. The answer was no, and could we book a 10-minute flight for a special birthday surprise. When we met Ada Barclay who was celebrating her 101-year birthday, we were gobsmacked, this woman was amazing and did not look or act her so called age. Not that many of us know what 101 yrs feels like. We would love to thank Ada’s family for thinking of Barossa
Helicopters as her special birthday surprise. Casey for sending through the photos.

FINDING US
Barossa Helicopters is located halfway between Williamstown and Lyndoch, in the Barossa Valley. Only 60 kilometres northeast of Adelaide city centre. Or if you’re travelling from Golden Grove or Mawson Lakes its approximately 36 – 45 Kilometers through the picturesque Humbugscrub and One Tree Hill. If you prefer sticking to the main roads approximately 45 kilometres.
All the roads are sealed including ours which was only completed around June this year. (Google Maps still displays old imagery, so please ignore the dirt road) Now remember that weekend drive that we all like to take our special cars or bikes on? Well now you can do that and come for a flight and see some of the roads you traveled but by air.
SCHILD ESTATE WINES
Last month we were invited to Schild Estate for the opening of their new cellar door, which was awesome. A big thank you to Jo, Casey and the team for lovely evening. We also found a great landing spot at the winery, so you can enjoy something a little different, “The Chocolate and Wine Flight”. This totally decadent experience consists of pairing 5 different wines with 5 different chocolates. Who doesn’t love wine and chocolates! www.schildestate.com.au

FROM THE PILOTS DESK
DRONES: Do you or someone you know own and fly one? Do you know the Civil Aviation Safety Authority Regulations associated? Drones are fast becoming very popular “toys” and are very useful in the commercial work environment. They are replacing humans in many fields! However, there are some rules that must be adhered to. You do not need to have a licence to operate one, but if you wish to earn money from operating your drone, it is best to go through the right channels to ensure you are able to do what you are trying to sell.
