Anyone with even mild cold-like symptoms should be tested. No bookings are required, and patients are reminded to stay in their car. Throwback ThursdayOlympic Athlete, Eileen Wearne (1912-2007)Sprinter (Alice) Eileen Wearne grew up in High Street, Strathfield. In 1932, she competed at the Los Angeles Olympic Games, becoming just the second Australian woman to compete in athletics at an Olympics. In 1938, she competed at the British Empire Games in Sydney, winning gold in the 4 x 100 yards relay and bronze in the 220 yards sprint. She retired in 1940, but continued to be involved in the Olympic movement and later settled in the Blue Mountains. At the time of her death in 2007, aged 95, she was Australia’s longest living Olympian. |
