NEAS Represents Australian Quality Endorsed ELT providers at ALPHE UK

Each year at about this time, NEAS prepares for the conference season, with the first major events held in the UK.  StudyTravel Magazine plays host to the annual GAELA meeting, held immediately before the ALPHE UK Agent Workshop.

The Global Alliance of Education and Language Associations has member industry associations and quality assurance agencies which represent ELT markets in Australia, Canada, France, Ireland, Italy, Malta, New Zealand, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

This provides a unique opportunity for associations to share issues and solve problems that influence our sector.

QALEN Washington 2016 - The Agenda

QALEN Washington 2016 is hosted by US based Quality Assurance agency ACCET in early September.

In consultation with collaborating QA agencies and ELT centres from Australia, South Africa, the UK, New Zealand, Canada and Malta, the agenda will discuss global issues associated with (a) Teacher and Academy Manager Qualifications (b) Quality Curriculum (c) Working with Governments and (d) Care of Minors.

The conclusion of the Symposium will feature a global communique, positioning the points of agreement established by QALEN signatories.

Voice and NEAS Educate Cambodian Students

NEAS has assisted a young adult in Phnom Penh to pursue his dream of furthering his English language studies.

Vannak met Voice when working and sleeping on the streets and unable to return to an unsafe home environment. Vannak visited Voice’s Phnom Penh community centre every day for food.

Vannak was enrolled by Voice in a Khmer school for the first time at the age of 11.  Family and financial pressures continued to interrupt his education and he was still working on the streets as recently as 12 months ago, when Voice helped Vannak to enrol into an English program at a boarding school where he learned English full-time.

His English improved rapidly and over the last year Vannak’s progress has exceeded the school’s English language levels.

With support from NEAS and Voice, Vannak has now commenced English language studies at NEAS member Australian Centre for Education (ACE)’s Santhor Mok campus in July, which he is balancing around his part-time work.  You can help by clicking here to donate to Voice, and to make a major difference in the lives of disadvantaged young people in Cambodia.

Quality Endorsed Centres Achieve Results in ELT

Steve Knussen, Trish Marshall and the Kaplan team in Cairns have again shown that quality in ELT isn't the domain of the cities.

Kaplan International English college in Cairns is in a beautiful location and has a fabulous welcoming culture from the front desk team to teachers and managers.

Nice work to Doug Hinchliffe, Sally Kuhne and everyone at Kingsway Institute; a stand-alone ELICOS centre in Sydney, where students expressed exceptionally high levels of satisfaction.
