Fulton Public Library will receive $5,000 as one of the winners of the grant for the project "Community Memories." The library will offer instruction on writing, and hold a public reading of the memoirs written around the community theme.
Betty Maute, Library Director of Fulton Public Library, said that their goal is to preserve the stories of Fulton's proud past, and inspire those who will create its future. “This project brings together people who lived their lives in Fulton and never met. Some have developed new friendships, building a stronger sense of community. To see the faces of people reading their stories in public, their moment in the limelight … priceless.”
The other grant awardee was the Moon Library at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. They will be working on the project, "Accessing Graduate Student Data Sets." Director Betty Maute began her library career at Moon Library, and is very glad to share this award with them.
