Quilts for Dorcas Ministries - the deadline is 10/1 and they are looking for 25-30 more quilts!Dorcas Ministries will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2018 and the celebration theme is STITCHING TOGETHER A COMMUNITY - 50 Years of Service. They are looking for volunteers to donate new or unused quilts. What will Dorcas do with the quilts? Donated quilts will be sold in a silent auction. The funds raised will support outreach services in our community. How many quilts are we looking to have donated? The goal is 50 quilts, one for every year of Dorcas’ service to Cary and Morrisville. Will there be a minimum bid at the silent auction? An opening minimum price using square inches and pattern complexity will be used. They will make sure that the quilts are not underpriced. How should I drop off my quilt? Please see Ellen Frazier at Dorcas Ministries or email Bob Stapleton at quilt@dorcas-cary.org to arrange a drop off of your quilt. Please fill out a Quilt Donor form to be returned with your donated quilt. Do not drop your quilt at the drop-off area in the back of Dorcas Ministries. ·Will there be an acknowledgment for donating a quilt? The goal will be to publicly acknowledge each person/group who donates a quilt. Will the donated quilts have an identifying label? There are Dorcas labels that they would like sewn on the quilt. They can be picked up at Dorcas through Ellen Frazier, or at Cary Quilting Company. What is the deadline for quilts being donated? October 1st! What kind of quilts do we prefer? The pattern can be simple, or more complex. Some quilters familiar with Dorcas are designing a quilt using memorabilia and pictures from Dorcas’ past. We want to appeal to a broad group of potential buyers so the more diverse the sizes, themes, and patterns, the better. The NC State Fair opens in about 3 weeks!
