Graham will be returning to his role as Deputy-Director of Training at GPTQ and we wish him well in the future. Best wishes for the festive season and thanks for your ongoing support of NTGPE. Stephen Pincus Dr Bronwyn Carson Dr Lina Zbaidi Dr Hubert van Doorn Have you recently fellowed?RACGP has a program called Future Leaders designed to help fellowed GPs become leaders in their profession. Delivered primarily online, the 8-month course has three main components: focus on yourself, focus on others and focus on the future. If you’re interested, join the GP Leaders group in shareGP for links to an online application and selection criteria. Applications close December 15. A life changed by remote trainingDr Jian Zhou’s journey with NTGPE started the same as many GP registrars who come from interstate to train in general practice in the NT. He came from Sydney without any support, he had never been to the NT or had any Indigenous health training experience and didn’t know anyone in the NT. He wanted to finish his training as quickly as he could and return to NSW. There were some signs early on however that his training story wouldn’t end quite as expected. Applications open for Health Workforce Scholarship ProgramThe newly established Health Workforce Scholarship Program (HWSP) is managed by NT PHN to provide scholarships and bursaries to eligible medical, nursing, allied health and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers and practitioners. The HWSP is intended to improve access to health services in remote areas of the NT by supporting health professionals to increase skills, capacity and scope of practice. Health professionals working in primary health care in rural and remote locations classified by the Modified Monash 3-7 are eligible to apply. Applications close COB Wednesday December 20, 2017. Further rounds will be announced in 2018. Call out for GP registrars and GP supervisors to help with NTGPE marketingEach year NTGPE promotes GP training to doctors during their hospital terms, encouraging them to apply to the AGPT program and train with NTGPE.
