Council Christmas Hours
Strathfield Council will be closed from Tuesday 25 December and will re-open on Wednesday 2 January. For any questions or queries, please contact Council on (02) 9748 9999 or email council@strathfield.nsw.gov.au
Council’s waste services will continue to run during this period including on Christmas Day Wednesday 25 December and New Year’s Day Tuesday 1 January. Please place bins out the night before as collection services will commence at 4am.
The next Council e-News is scheduled to go out on Thursday 10 January 2019. Council would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Movies in the Park
Movies in the Park presents Monster Family next! Emma Wishbone and her mum are planning for a family fun night out, but their plan backfires when Baba Yaga interferes and turns the Wishbone family into monsters!

Australia Day Is Coming Up!
Save the date for an important community event celebrating our newest Australian citizens and recognising outstanding individuals who contribute to the community. Event will include a sausage sizzle, reptile display, face painting, jumping castle and more!

Get Your Hand Off It
NSW Road Safety has announced that mobile phone detection camera technology is ready for a three month pilot starting early January 2019 and will conclude April 2019. No infringements will be issued to motorists during this pilot phase.
Environmental Heroes
Do you know someone who is championing litter reduction and/or environmental initiatives in our local community? Nominate them today for the Strathfield Environmental Citizen of the Year Award! All nominations close at 5pm Friday 11 January 2019.
Put Your Hands Up
Do you have some time up your sleeve? Raise your hand and volunteer with Council, you may pick up a skill or two! Council is currently seeking volunteers for the 2019 Australia Day Celebrations and 2019 Reading Buddies Program.
Stepping On
Stepping On is a free, exciting and friendly 7-week program for seniors that combines gentle strength and balance exercises with education sessions. It is designed to build knowledge, strength and confidence to prevent falls, stay active and remain independent.
When: Wednesdays, 10.30am – 12.30pm (from 27 February 2019 for 7 weeks)

Throwback Thursday
15 Brunswick Street, Strathfield
This single storey weatherboard Federation Queen Anne style house was built in Brunswick Street c.1912 and is a rare example of this building style. After changes to planning controls in 1920, Council prohibited building of houses in materials other than brick, stone or concrete.
