The IAB’s 45th Annual General Meeting will be held at 10:45am on Thursday 20th June 2019 at CIPP offices, 90 Long Acre, (Arne Street Entrance), Covent Garden, London, WC2E 9RA.  This notice includes further details of the AGM, including information on the election candidates.  You are also able to access a downloadable form that you can use to vote by proxy.

Anti-Money Laundering Survey
 

HM Treasury are currently in the process of consulting on future changes to Anti-Money Laundering requirements which have come about from the 5th Money Laundering Directive (5MLD).

5MLD requires Obliged Entities (the definition of which extends to members of the accountancy profession) to report any discrepancies they find between the beneficial ownership information available to them and beneficial ownership information on the Companies House PSC (People with significant control) register.

MTD VAT Service scheduled maintenance
 

HMRC will be undertaking scheduled maintenance to the Making Tax Digital (MTD) service, in order to deliver additional functionality for those using the service.

Pension benefits rules set to align with younger partner
 

The government is overhauling the date couples can receive pension age benefits so they will only be payable when the second person in the couple reaches retirement age, rather than the eldest as now.

The rules come into force from 15 May 2019 and mean that couples will no longer be able to choose to claim pension age benefits as soon as the older partner of the couple reaches state pension age.
