Early Edition March 2018

How do we grow the visitor economy in Gippsland?  What are the best opportunities for us to capitalise on and where are the future projects that will make a difference?

These are some of the questions that will be answered as we commence our Gippsland Destination Management Plan project.  AEC consultants have been appointed and will commence an extensive consultation and visitor research process in coming weeks, including conducting over 2000 visitor surveys across Gippsland over Easter.

We encourage you to participate in this important strategic planning exercise to ensure it is a comprehensive, relevant and influential blueprint for the entire Gippsland tourism sector for years to come.

Tourism Australia’s Youth Campaign Visits Gippsland

In the past month we have hosted two content editors for the New Tourism Australia Youth Campaign “Aussie News Today”, in collaboration with Buzzfeed Australia

The duo covered the Sydney Melbourne Touring Route and the Penguins to Prom Route, two internationally-ready touring routes.  Experiences included pelican feeding at San Remo, Prom Heli’s, Refuge Cove Cruises, Venture Out and many more fantastic Gippsland businesses.

The video, photography and editorial content will be shared worldwide through Buzzfeed Mates and Tourism Australia’s youth Campaign “Aussie News Today”.
Tourism Australia defines the youth segment as people aged between 15 and 29 years. The youth market contributes 25 per cent of all visitor arrivals to Australia and 46 per cent of all visitor spend.

Since the release of the Wilsons Promontory video last week there have been over 40 thousand views.  For more information and to follow the campaign please see here
