Dear BC Graduate Students, Whether it is your first year at BC or you are returning, welcome, and happy first day of classes! I hope you were able to enjoy your summer and are geared up for an exciting fall semester. My name is Dr. Shawna Cooper-Gibson, and I’m thrilled to be joining the Boston College community as the new vice president for Student Affairs. I look forward to meeting you! As we embark on this new academic year, if you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact our departments within Student Affairs, including the Office of Graduate Student Life, or my office directly. I also hold open office hours for students most Fridays between 3:00-5:00 p.m., so please feel free to stop by Maloney Hall 412. There are a number of programs and events planned this semester including Graduate Student Weeks of Welcome, the Student Involvement Fair happening this Friday from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., and our Student Affairs Open House on September 14 from 2:00-4:00 p.m., where you can learn more about our departments and meet some of our staff. I am excited that we can offer these events in person; however, given the unpredictable nature of COVID-19, we may need to modify policies and procedures because of changing conditions and guidance from local, state, and federal officials. I am confident that together we can navigate and adapt to any challenges that might arise. On behalf of the division, we are very excited to welcome you here on campus. See you on the Heights! Sincerely, Dr. Shawna Cooper-Gibson Division of Student Affairs |
