Pitt Street to Queen StreetUpcoming works - what to expect:
Upper Queen Street to Mercury LaneThe low level planting at this section is complete. Upcoming works - what to expect:
Mercury Lane to West TerraceUpcoming works - what to expect:
West Terrace temporary road closure for speed table construction: Work to construct the speed table across West Terrace is under action. Due to the narrow nature of West Terrace a temporary road closure is being maintained. There is no vehicle access to West Terrace via Karangahape Road for the duration of this work which is expected to continue up to mid August 2020. Pedestrian access is planned to be available on Monday 10 August 2020 and vehicles on Monday 17 August 2020. Vehicle access is currently being provided for residents only via Galatos Street. East Street speed table construction: On Monday 10 August 2020 work to construct the speed table across East Street will commence. This work will be undertaken in halves. To maintain two way traffic on East Street, a stop/go operation will be in place. Please be aware and follow the temporary traffic management signs. Howe Street to OverbridgeUpcoming works - what to expect:
OverbridgeUpcoming works - what to expect: All Fresco Overbridge Stories is a one day live painting event taking place along the south side of the Karangahape Rd overbridge. Over Saturday August 8th 2020, several artists from Āwhina Mai Tatou Katoa will work alongside each other transforming the 80 metre hoarding into a series of artworks that will remain in place until the finished cladding is installed. Under the umbrella of the wider All Fresco programme, Overbridge Stories creates a platform for artists to add their voices and further the discussion around the precinct’s collective identity as it goes through significant changes. The painting activity is supported by Manaaki, music and food sourced from the community, with thanks to AT. CYCLEWAY - SOFT OPENING:During the works, sections of the newly constructed cycleway have remained closed for safety reasons as they did not link up along the street. However, as works are progressing, we can facilitate a soft opening of the cycleway now instead of opening it fully at the end of the project. In conjunction with AT and Bike Auckland we have and will continue to open sections of the cycleway - there will be temporary signage and road markings to help guide cyclists on along the cycleway. Please follow these signs and dismount when required While this "soft opening" will allow cyclists to utilise sections of the cycleway that do not have active construction in them, it is important to note that construction work will take place later at some of these ‘open’ cycleway sections to finalise construction. In these instances, we will have the relevant traffic management in place to indicate these work locations, but we will endeavour to maintain cycleway access. Temporary road markings are completed on the eve of the opening. The following are planned sections to be opened - dates will be confirmed in the upcoming newsletters:
