Fundraising Campaign Update

April 2019

Waterlow Hall

I am delighted to be sending the 6th edition of our Campaign Newsletter to the whole South Hampstead community - parents, pupils, staff and alumnae. In March we reached out to all to help us raise the final funds for this project and the response has been wonderful. Thank you for helping us to secure over 75% of the £3 million we need. We plan to start the work in July and it is now full speed ahead as we try to secure the remaining funds by the end of 2019.

Project update

It's getting closer....

It is so exciting to be finalising the detailed specification for the hall as we move to appoint the contractor who will start work in July. The designers, music and theatre staff are in close discussion about the technical details for sound desks, lighting and audio visual equipment. We want the pupils to get involved too and will be asking them to help us choose the colour scheme for the retractable seating during our Waterlow Hall Ground-Breaking Week in July.

Moving on up....

Donations have been flooding in over the past two months. We have had support from more than 300 members of the South Hampstead community, helping us to raise over £2.35million. We want everyone to feel they own a little bit of our new hall so please do get involved in whatever way you are able and help us raise the final £650,000.

It's a family affair.....

In March, letters were sent to alumnae, parents, and friends of South Hampstead to share the details of our plans for the Waterlow Hall and seek your help. Huge thanks must go to our former staff (including two previous heads of South Hampstead) who wrote letters to our alumnae.

The Leavers' campaign
Don't leave me this way...

Each year, we ask parents of our leaving cohort to transfer the original deposit, made when their daughter joined the school, to our development funds. This year, parents have made generous contributions to both the Waterlow Hall project and our Bursary funds.

We wish all our pupils the very best with the forthcoming exams and look forward to welcoming all the Upper Sixth girls into our alumnae community at the end of the summer.

Shine a Light....

The Shine a Light club is an opportunity for the pupils to get involved with the fundraising and they have thrown themselves into the task. Last term they organised cake sales, wrote thank you letters and ran the postcard competition. Their efforts have not been in vain - so far they have raised over £15,000 towards the campaign.

Towards and Beyond our 150th Anniversary
The future's so bright....

The Waterlow Hall project marks the completion of a 10 year masterplan to transform the Senior School at South Hampstead. But it will also be the foundation from which our ambitions for the future will grow. 'Towards and Beyond 150’ outlines our strategy to ensure that South Hampstead stays at the absolute forefront of education as we approach our 150th anniversary in 2026.
