Go lime in September for Lymphoma

Get Involved & Put Lymphoma in the Limelight!!

September is Lymphoma Awareness Month - join with us and go lime to put Lymphoma in the Limelight!

Raising awareness is a key step to ensure that more Australians know the signs and symptoms of lymphoma, know where to turn for support, and to gain access to the best possible treatments.

The funds you raise by "going lime" will support our Lymphoma Care Nurses who are helping all Australian patients understand and navigate the lymphoma journey.

It is easy to sign up for a rewarding experience - host a morning tea at work, school or your hospital; ask your local cafe to use our coffee cups for a day; shave or colour your hair!

Start planning now to help put lymphoma in the limelight!

New Medicine on the PBS for Mantle Cell Lymphoma

The Federal Minister for Health recently announced that from 1 August 2018, IMBRUVICA® (ibrutinib) will become the first medicine available through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) for Australians with Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL) whose condition progresses after initial chemotherapy-based treatment.

IMBRUVICA works by blocking a protein in the body that helps cancer cells live and grow. This protein is called Bruton’s tyrosine kinase. Blocking this protein may help kill and reduce the number of cancer cells and also slow the spread of the disease.

Associate Professor Constantine Tam, Disease Group Lead, Low Grade Lymphoma & CLL at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Director of Haematology at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. “Until now, there has been no standard of care for these patients. This PBS listing provides a new treatment option, which allows us to keep fighting the cancer when chemotherapy stops working."

Lessons on Life and Mantle Cell Lymphoma

I have always been lucky.  Lucky in finding a wonderful wife, lucky in my career, lucky with our children and lucky with my health – until now.

“Thank you!"

To each and every person who made a donation and shared our June tax appeal, we extend our heartfelt thanks. Because of your wonderful generosity we are on the way to funding an additional Lymphoma Care Nurse to support a greater number of lymphoma patients and families. You made a difference!

Our tax appeal introduced you to our patient Vicki, her mother Melissa and family (in pic above). We are very grateful to the family for opening up their lives and sharing a personal journey. We have fantastic news to share that as of last week Vicki has completed her treatment for Hodgkins Lymphoma and is now in remission. May your future shine brightly Vicki!
