Click here Issue #269 | 18 February 2021 Corporates dig deep in time of crisis In the mosaic of national generosity that was driven by bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic, the contribution of corporate philanthropy reached record heights in 2020. Corporate Australia’s top 50 companies totalled $1.1 billion in giving last year, a 17 percent increase on the previous year, according to the 2020 GivingLarge report. SECTOR NEWS: Andrew Kelly appointed CEO of The Antarctic Science Foundation The board of the Antarctic Science Foundation (ASF) has announced the appointment of Andrew Kelly, an established and senior participant in the philanthropic sector, as the new Chief Executive Officer. In May last year, ASF announced funding for its first project, into Antarctic krill, a critical part of the food chain in the Southern Ocean. PIJI: Philanthropic Giving for Journalism The Public Interest Journalism Initiative is seeking philanthropic trusts, foundations or donors that have funded or considered funding journalism in Australia to interview for its next major research project, Philanthropic Giving For Journalism. Westfield Local Heroes – Nominations now open Nominations to Westfield Local Heroes (WLH) are open with more than $1.2 million in grants to be awarded.
