Council is currently reviewing the Community Strategic Plan, which outlines the community's vision and Council’s priorities and aspirations for the next 10 years and beyond. To ensure all community voices are represented, Council would like to recruit Strathfield residents for focus groups, a youth forum and a community panel. The engagement activities, together with our consultations, will allow Council to create a draft Community Strategic Plan that is truly informed by, and reflective of, our local Strathfield community. Shock and AwningRoberto Giglio - Development and Compliance Officer I have worked in the compliance team for 2 and a half years, with a focus on protecting Council and the community by ensuring Councils conditions of consent are adhered to. This includes ensuring land is used correctly by tenants, and health and safety standards are maintained. I am currently working on the Strathfield Council Awnings Program, which audits all awnings in the LGA to ensure the safety of those walking underneath them. All owners must submit engineer reports to Council certifying the safety of the awning. For more information on awnings, please call Council on 9748 9999. Throwback ThursdayHeritage Houses - Malvern‘Malvern’ was built c.1870 by stockbroker Thomas James Thompson, one of the founders of the Sydney Stock Exchange. The home was of typical style of the time with a large verandah and manicured gardens. After Thompson’s death, the home was demolished and replaced with ‘Radstock’, located at 2 Malvern Crescent, Strathfield. Image and words courtesy of Cathy Jones. Events
