International Day of Disability

Thank you for Sharing the Dignity
A huge thank you to those who contributed to the Share the Dignity Campaign! Council received a total of 205 bags from the local community including Homebush Boys High School and First Yaralla Sea Scouts Group. Donations have been distributed to St Merkorious Charity and St Pauls Pantry, Burwood.
Christmas Closure Hours
Strathfield Council Customer Service and Library & Innovation Hub will be closed from Thursday 24 December 2020 and re-open Monday 4 January 2021. Click through for more information on Christmas Public Notification of DAs and waste collection.

Santa’s Flying Visit
In December 1953, Flight Lieutenant Bill Horsman of Strathfield had the very important duty of escorting Santa during two visits to 78 Fighter Wing, RAAF - on garrison duty in Malta. On these occasions Santa traded his sleigh for a twin-seater Meteor jet trainer, distributing gifts to the 54 children of Australian personnel. The following day he delivered presents, donated by the airmen, to Maltese orphans and children in need. Horsman had flown in New Guinea during WWII, and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross during the Korean War. The 78 Fighter Wing spent two and a half years in Malta.
