Throwback ThursdayThrowback ThursdaySanta’s Flying VisitIn December 1953, Flight Lieutenant Bill Horsman of Strathfield had the very important duty of escorting Santa during two visits to 78 Fighter Wing, RAAF - on garrison duty in Malta. On these occasions Santa traded his sleigh for a twin-seater Meteor jet trainer, distributing gifts to the 54 children of Australian personnel. The following day he delivered presents, donated by the airmen, to Maltese orphans and children in need. Horsman had flown in New Guinea during WWII, and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross during the Korean War. The 78 Fighter Wing spent two and a half years in Malta.
