NEAS 2016 Conference: How to "TED Talk"

The 2016 NEAS Conference is encouraging a new format for presentations based on the global success of TED Talks (https://www.ted.com). If you are looking for tips on how to inspire your audience, check these from June Cohen, Executive Producer of TED Media.

  • Ask yourself is your talk worth sharing and does it have a viral nature? Use all types of contagious emotions (eg: smile!) as this makes people want to share YOUR ideas.
  • Tell a story: take the audience on a journey with you. A good story means being personal; it tells you something about the speaker. Keep your personal story at the centre so the audience can relate to the personal nature.
  • Don’t lose the audience or race ahead of your audience. One of the ways to avoid this is to not use jargon from your field and to speak to a general level of intelligence.

NEAS Conference - Affordable Ticketing

In 2016 we want as many people as possible to be able to attend the NEAS Conference.  Our goal is to have managers, senior teachers AND executives attending from each school to be inspired.  To support this objective NEAS has introduced:

ABC's "The Chaser" - Chris Taylor at NEAS '16

Chris Taylor is an Australian comedian, writer and former radio host from Sydney.  He is known for his role with popular satirical TV series "The Chaser".

The group take their name from their production of a satirical newspaper, a publication known to challenge conventions of taste. The group's motto is "Striving for Mediocrity in a World of Excellence".

Brought to us by ETS TOEFL, Chris' presentation at the NEAS '16 Dinner (register here) will follow previous years' performances by ABC Radio presenter Wendy Harmer and "Spicks and Specks" identity Tommy Dean.
