The 2016 NEAS Conference is encouraging a new format for presentations based on the global success of TED Talks (https://www.ted.com). If you are looking for tips on how to inspire your audience, check these from June Cohen, Executive Producer of TED Media.
- Ask yourself is your talk worth sharing and does it have a viral nature? Use all types of contagious emotions (eg: smile!) as this makes people want to share YOUR ideas.
- Tell a story: take the audience on a journey with you. A good story means being personal; it tells you something about the speaker. Keep your personal story at the centre so the audience can relate to the personal nature.
- Don’t lose the audience or race ahead of your audience. One of the ways to avoid this is to not use jargon from your field and to speak to a general level of intelligence.
